Functional Art
One-of-a-kind painted objects created to be lived with, used, worn, played, and carried through everyday life.
Functional art began as a way of extending my painting practice beyond the wall.
I’m drawn to objects that already carry movement, memory, and personality — motorcycle helmets, guitars, skateboards, and other well-loved forms that become even more meaningful through paint, texture, and wear over time.
Each piece is painted by hand as a one-of-a-kind artwork, balancing beauty and utility.

Fuctional Art Commissions
Each project begins with a short inquiry form where you can share the object you'd like painted, along with any ideas, references, colours, or general atmosphere you’re drawn to.
I work across a range of objects including motorcycle helmets, guitars, skateboards, surf-related objects, and other functional forms.
Once the project is approved, a 50% deposit secures your place in the commission calendar.
From there, the process typically unfolds in three stages:
Concept & Design
We begin with a loose visual direction rather than a rigid blueprint. I may provide a rough sketch, composition idea, or reference board depending on the project.
The strongest pieces usually come from allowing room for interpretation and spontaneity.
Painting & Finishing
Each object is painted by hand using layered techniques adapted specifically for the material and intended use of the piece.
Depending on the object, protective finishes and clear coats are applied to support durability and longevity.
Final Review & Shipment
Once completed, you’ll receive final images for approval before shipment.
Estimated timelines vary depending on the complexity of the project and object type.
Functional art commissions may include:
- Motorcycle helmets
- Guitars
- Skateboards
- Surfboards
- Decorative objects
- One-of-a-kind custom pieces
If you have something unusual in mind, feel free to include it in your inquiry.
Pricing varies depending on the object, scale, level of detail, and preparation required.
Most projects begin around $540 CAD.
Shipping costs vary depending on the size and destination of the object.
Submit the inquiry form with a few details about your object and ideas.
From there, I’ll confirm availability, pricing, timeline, and whether the project feels aligned with the practice.
Each piece is approached as a collaborative artwork rather than a mass-produced custom product, ensuring every object remains personal and one of a kind.
